What is DeskBoot?
An on-demand cloud desktop service. Sign up, pick an OS and a size, click Launch, and about a minute later you can RDP into a fresh machine hosted on AWS. Stop the box, the meter stops.
How is billing calculated?
Per second. Running sessions bill at the hourly rate on /pricing divided by 3,600. When you Stop, compute stops — only a small storage charge (~$0.08/GB/month) keeps ticking. Terminate to stop everything.
How long does it take to get a session running?
Around one minute for Linux, one to three minutes for Windows. Chrome comes pre-installed and audio is enabled — you can start working immediately.
What happens if my balance runs out?
Running sessions auto-stop within a minute of the balance hitting zero. Your disks are preserved. You then have a 3-day grace periodto top up — if you don't, we terminate the sessions to stop storage charges from growing. We email you at each stage.
Where are your servers?
Five AWS regions: Cape Town, Virginia, Ohio, Dublin, and Mumbai. Pick the region closest to you for the best RDP responsiveness.
Can I get a refund?
Unused card-funded balance is refundable when you close your account. M-Pesa top-ups are one-way (Safaricom limitation), but the balance stays usable indefinitely. See /refunds for the full policy.
